Creative Ways to Use Leftover Tortillas so they Never Go to Waste!

So, you bought a tortilla press and now have a lot of leftover tortillas. What are you going to do with them? It’s a significant problem because you can do so many things with tortillas! It’s always a great idea to make more tortillas than you need to have leftovers for the next meal.

There are endless possibilities when it comes to recipes that include tortillas. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Make loaded restaurant-style nachos

Who doesn’t love a plate of loaded nachos? All you need are:

  • Some tortilla chips.
  • Your favorite toppings (cheese, beans, meat, etc.).
  • Some salsa or queso for dipping.

You’ll have to fry your leftover tortillas to make chips, but it’s worth it! Just cut them into triangles and fry in hot oil until crispy. Drain on a paper towel and season with salt.

Then, layer on your toppings and dig in! Allow everyone to customize their nachos however they like.

Use them as a base for enchiladas

Enchiladas are another great way to use up leftover tortillas. Simply fill each tortilla with your favorite filling (chicken, beef, veggies, etc.), roll them up, and place them in a baking dish.

Cover with enchilada sauce and cheese, and bake until hot and bubbly. Serve with sour cream, more cheese, and anything else you like on your enchiladas.

Make breakfast burritos

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so make it a good one! Breakfast burritos are the perfect way to start your day.

Fill each tortilla with scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon or sausage, and any other toppings you like. Then, roll them up tight and wrap them in foil. You can make tastier, healthier breakfast burritos by using whole wheat tortillas.

You won’t go to the drive-thru for breakfast ever again!

Make peanut butter and jelly tortilla roll-ups

This is a fun twist on the classic PB&J sandwich that kids and adults love. All you need is some peanut butter, jelly, and tortillas.

Spread the peanut butter and jelly on each tortilla, then roll them up tightly. Slice into bite-sized pieces and serve. These are perfect for packed lunches or a quick snack.

Add some sliced apple, raisins, or other dried fruit for a little extra sweetness and nutrition.

Make your own Mexican pizzas

Okay, this will take some work because you’ll have to deep fry the tortillas first. But it’s so worth it!

Fry the entire tortilla in hot oil until crispy, then place on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil. Spread beans, meat, or whatever else you like. Then, add some pizza sauce, cheese, and other toppings you desire.

Place your Mexican pizzas under the broiler for a few minutes to melt the cheese, then slice and serve.

So, there you have it! These are just a few ideas for using up your leftover tortillas. If you ever have any extra tortillas, don’t let them go to waste. There are so many delicious things you can make with them! Eventually, you’ll find yourself making a few extra so that you can have leftovers to use in these delicious ideas.
