DIY Anti-Aging Body Lotion

Aging is one of the least pleasant facts of life. No matter how hard you fight it, you can’t win the battle against time. Don’t worry though, you can still slow it down. We see anti-aging creams and products on all media platforms and all stores on a daily basis, but none of them seem to work well enough. Even if they do, you’re still putting a lot of chemicals on your skin which isn’t at all healthy.

These products should, therefore, be avoided as much as you can avoid them. Instead of giving your money to a corporation and ruining the quality of your skin, you should simply make an anti-aging body lotion at home. You’ll know what ingredients you’ll be using and exactly what you’re putting on your body. This body lotion will help tighten your skin and make you feel and look years younger.

No matter how often we tell ourselves that our appearance isn’t important, we have to admit that it is. Achieving that young and healthy look isn’t hard when you make the product yourself. Yet, it can boost your confidence significantly and make you love your body more than ever before.

The recipe isn’t even that hard to make.

Before you get started with your anti-aging lotion, you’ll need to gather some ingredients. These can be found at any local general store, pharmacy, or even ordered online.

16 oz. container

12 oz. Distilled Water OR Aloe Vera Juice

1 oz. Pomegranate Seed Oil

1 oz. Rosehip Seed Oil

0.3 oz. Shea Butter

1 oz. Polawax Emulsifying Wax 0.4 oz. Cetearyl Alcohol

0.5 0z vegetable glycerine

30 drops Frankincense Essential Oil

20 drops Geranium Essential Oil

5 mL Optiphen Preservative

Instructions

Now that you’ve got the ingredients ready, let’s see how exactly you can make your perfect anti-age lotion.

Step 1:

The first thing you’ll need to do is to disinfect your utensils. You should use a 5% bleach water solution, dip them into it, and let them dry. This should be done with your stick blender, all mixing containers, and any spatulas and spoons that will come in contact with the lotion. The products need to be free of microbes, bacteria, and germs.

Step 2:

Get a heat-safe container and combine rosehip seed oil, pomegranate seed oil, shea butter, Cetearyl alcohol, and Emulsifying Wax. Put the container in the microwave for 30 seconds. Repeat the process until the waxes have fully melted and the mixture is at about 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 3:

The Aloe Vera juice or distilled water you’re using should now be poured into a second heat-safe container. Put that in the microwave, too, and heat it to about 160 degrees Fahrenheit, too.

Step 4:

Now it’s time to check the temperature of both containers. Each should be about 140 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. When you reach these numbers, you should pour the was and the oils into the water and begin using the stick blender. The mixture should be blended for sixty to ninety seconds. Make sure that the oil and water are fully emulsified. Release bubbles from your stick blender by tamping it on the bottom. You really don’t need bubble trapped in your lotion as it will degrade the quality.

Step 5:

You should stick blend until the temperature drops to around 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Now add the glycerine and use the stick blender once more. Pulse for about sixty seconds to fully mix it in.

Step 6:

Check the temperature of the mixture again. It should be around 130 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Once that is the case, you should add essential oils and stick blend them for several minutes. After they’re mixed in, Optiphen should be added to the mixture as well. Continue to stick blend for another minute or two.

Step 7:

Finally, it’s time for you to pour the lotion into containers. The containers should sit open overnight. If you leave the cap on, you risk condensation forming inside the container. When the lotion has completely cooled down, you can place the caps on and enjoy your new lotion.
