Outdoor Sports Betting Social

If you are like me, you love the thrill of sports betting, but what I love even more is making a backyard social event out of sports betting. I invite all my friends over for a backyard barbeque, and we bet on the afternoon sports events, making the social event that much more exciting. Imagine you have been waiting all year for the big game, what better way to experience the game than with your friends. Your team is playing the most crucial game of the year; your checklist is out. Lucky socks check, lucky underwear check, face paint check, and looking perfect. The beer is in hand and cold. The grill is heating up for the big game. You even made meatless meatballs for your plant base only friends. You look at the clock. Your guests will arrive soon. It looks like you might be stuck in the backyard watching the kids and grill for the beginning of the game.

Outdoor Living Area

Looking out at the backyard, good thing the kids had to have the latest playset to play with. The kids wanted the pirate ship playset, and today, they will be enjoying if you want them to or not. Good thing I installed artificial grass around the set, so I don’t have to deal with cutting around it to get ready for today. I knew once my outdoor kitchen was set up with all the game-day snacks, I would be in heaven. It is my little world out there. Grilling for my friends and all the kids playing in the backyard instead of destroying my house. I wish my wife would enjoy the outdoor space more, but she is inside with her friends, drinking wine talking about the neighbors. I have a feeling she will enjoy it more because of the easy cleanup. One quick spray with the hose is all it needs.

I am so happy I added a small living area with a fireplace and TV outside. This is truly the perfect set up for the sports betting social on game day. Whether the big game for you is football, soccer, baseball, or even horse racing bet-nj.com has it all. Have your friends sign up for a free account before they arrive and set up some whiteboards outside so each friend can place his bet on the board for all to see. You can even set up some side bets to make things more engaging and fun for your event. The site offers several types of betting options relating to sports leagues and tournaments; here are the three main ways to bet on sports.

  • Moneyline
  • Totals Over/Under
  • Points Spread

Moneyline Betting

Moneyline betting is one of the easiest to understand and is the most popular style in the US. With a Moneyline bet, you are siding with the favorite to win. For example, if you bet on an NBA game. You would see the betting odds listed like:

NY Knicks +250

Toronto Raptors -150

This shows the favorite and the underdog.

The +250 for New York Knicks means that if you bet $100 on NY, you would receive $250 if they win. Selecting the Raptors at -150 would get you $150 from a $100 wager. This is true for any sport; for soccer, you can even bet on a draw.

Totals & Over-Under Betting

Betting on the total and over-under is similar to the Moneyline bet, but in this case, you don’t care about who wins but the total amount of points scored by both teams. The concept is simple you are betting the over or under of the predicted total score combined in the game.

For example, say a football game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets has a total point prediction of 40.5 points with the odds set at -110. Your betting on whether you believe the total score is more or fewer than the 40.5 points.

Point Spread Betting

The third most common sports betting is the point spread wager. The most common sports in the US that see the point spread wager are football and basketball due to the high scoring games. This wager is easy to understand; you are not betting a particular team to win your betting that a specific team will beat the spread.

Your bookie will set the point spread to give both teams an equal chance of winning like a handicap. An example bet using the point spread would be as follows:

New York Jets football team vs. the Buffalo Bills

-5.5 +5.5

-110 +110

The -5.5 and +5.5 are the two teams’ handicaps. In this example, you are betting on New York and subtracting 5 points, or it can be said you are adding 5 points to Buffalo’s total score. In this example, The Jets are the 5.5 point favorites. Betting on the Jets, you will need them to win by more than 5.5 points to collect your winnings.

Conclusion

Now that you know the three ways to bet, invite your friends over for sports betting social for the big game. Make sure you have your whiteboard all set up to see who predicts the best score. Don’t forget the snacks!
