The Basics of Ten-Play Draw Poker

Ten-play draw poker is just like regular poker, but everything is fast-paced. You can win ten times the amount of money or lose ten times your normal losses. Everything is tense, and you have more hands to focus on, making it the perfect variation for gamblers needing a bigger challenge.

What Is 10 Play Draw Poker?

Ten-play draw poker is a poker variation that is often set up online. For example, you can play Fanduel Casino’s ten-play draw poker against a computer and not have to wait for a real player to be nearby to get started.

In this variation, you have ten hands at the same time, and you play with ten decks. You can choose between 1 to 4 of your first five cards to be played in every hand, increasing your likelihood of winning.

Card Combinations

Before we tell you how to play the game, you need to know the best combinations of cards to aim for. You should keep referring back to this list throughout the learning process, so you know what card combinations will give you the best results.

From best to worst:

  • Royal Flush
    • (10, Jack, Queen, King & Ace – all of the same suit)
  • Straight Flush
    • (Any five cards in ascending order- all of the same suit)
  • Four of a Kind
    • (a hand with 4 of the same numbers or faces, but different suits)
  • Full House
    • (Three of a king and two pair in the same hand)
  • Flush
    • (Any five cards of the same suit)
  • Straight
    • (Any five cards in ascending order)
  • Three of a Kind
  • Pair of Jacks or Better (2 Jacks, 2 Queens, 2 Kings or 2 Aces)
  • Two Pair

How To Play 10 Draw Poker

If you have never played poker before, you’ll definitely need to read through this “how-to” guide. But if you already know the basics of regular poker, then skim through the sections on general play and focus on the outliers.

Step 1 – Making A Bet

Normally when you play poker, there is a small blind (small bet) and a big blind (big bet), but as ten-play draw poker is normally played online, you only make one bet. Another difference is that you have to bet for every hand you want to play – in this case, that’s ten bets right off the bat.

Step 2 – Organizing Your Hand

You will be given five cards to start with. Using the card combinations above, you can choose which you would like to hold and which you would like to discard.

For example, let’s say the first five cards are 3 of Clubs, 4 of Clubs, 6 of Clubs, Jack of Spades, and Jack of Clubs.

You know you can get a winning combination in every play with this hand alone. This is because you’ve already got A Pair of Jacks.

However, you are also just two cards away from a Straight Flush, needing just a 5 of Clubs and either a 2 of Clubs or a 7 of Clubs to complete the combination.

The best option would be to hold the Jacks and discard the rest, knowing that you already have a winning combination in your hand. However, you can organize your hand however you like.

Once you have decided, the cards you have chosen will be in every one of your ten hands, while the rest will be shuffled back into the deck.

Step 3 – Playing 10 Hands

Each deck will have the same cards in its pack. Each pack will include all the cards minus whichever ones you had chosen to hold onto.

Depending on how many cards you decide to keep, you will draw more cards from each deck to give you ten hands of 5 cards. In total, there will be 50 cards at play.

Each hand will have the held cards you chose from step 2 and whatever else brings up the number to 5.

Step 4 – Winning

The best thing about ten-play draw poker is that you almost always win. You won’t be playing against an actual player. Instead, you are up against the computer.

You need to get one of the combinations above to win the game. The better the combination, the more you’ll win.

Each betting station will offer you different rates, but the odds are more in your favor because you have ten hands per game.

Why You Should Be Playing 10 Play Draw Poker

This game is easy to play and arguably easier than normal poker.

If you have never played poker before, this will be a quick way to learn how each combination works and strategize your hand to create the best outcomes. Because everything is moving quickly, you’ll pick up on all the classic tricks before the day is done.

If you’re an old hand at poker, you can still have fun with this game. It wasn’t designed for new players after all.

Instead, it was designed for people who want to play by themselves. You don’t need to interact with anyone when you sit down for this game. It’s just you, the cards and the computer.

Summary

Ten-play draw poker is a fast version of the class game, you have a better chance of winning big, and if you’re new to the game, you will pick up the rules fast. Give it a go!
