What is international education, and what does it mean to expats?

If you’re an adventurous person, then there’s a good chance that you’ve spent some of your free time exploring the different destinations that this diverse world can offer. What happens when you stop traveling and you want to settle down somewhere new? How can you make sure that your children continue to get the uninterrupted education they need?

The simple answer is international education. Throughout the world today, the availability of international education is growing, as a byproduct of globalization among other things. The reduced restrictions around global borders have helped students to make the move overseas and immerse themselves fully in a new culture.

The rise of the International Baccalaureate

One of the solutions offered for today’s expat students is the “International Baccalaureate” (or “IB”) education. This educational solution is offered by international schools around the world, including in Singapore. With this curriculum, students are encouraged to drive their own learning processes and take part in programs that can give them access to some of the best universities and colleges in the world.

A Singapore international school can also help students to become more culturally aware by providing them with the support of a second language. This means that they’ll be increasingly able to perform in a globalized and changing world. IB students develop strong emotional, social and academic skills, and some experts suggest that they’re actually more likely to perform well than students in other programs.

Student support for any age range

Today, countries around the world are continuing to embrace new and advanced ways to welcome expat students into their classes. As skill shortages continue to run rampant around the world, a comprehensive international education approach is a great way to ensure that people can find their calling in any country. Most international schools will cover a full age range of educational opportunities for students.

Immersion in an international school gives students entering a new country an incredible chance to immerse themselves in a diverse and rich new culture, without having to risk their academic performance. If you choose no other reason to make the most of international schooling, then the solution will, at the very least, help you to ensure continuity in your child’s education as they learn.

Encouraging diversity

As the world continues to evolve with new technologies and new opportunities, international schooling facilities embrace the diversity that’s so important to the modern world. Wherever your child goes to school, you’re sure to find a solution in Singapore that offers your national curriculum and teaches in the language with which the student is most familiar. The benefit of this path for expats is that it makes the transition into a new school much easier.

As the borders between countries continue to grow more blurred, it makes sense that the drive towards more international schooling solutions will continue to grow, giving students the support they need to accomplish anything.
