TRS wins defeating Congress in Narayankhed byelection

The TRS nominee M. Bhupal Reddy preserved lead over his nearest Congress rival P. Sanjeev Reddy from the first round and won by a majority of 53,625 votes.

Scoring a hat-trick the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Tuesday repeated the miracle of Warangal by-election and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) poll results. The TRS candidate Mahareddy Bhupal Reddy defeated Congress by a margin of 53,625 votes.

The results were declared at 11.45 a.m. at Narayanakhed counting center. From the initial round onwards, the TRS nominee Bhupal Reddy preserved lead over his nearest Congress rival Patlolla Sanjeev Reddy.

Telugu Desam Party nominee stood a poor third and lost his deposit.

The TRS got 93,076 votes followed by Congress 39,451 and TDP votes 93,076 14,787. The complete success in the by-election was being credited to the attempts of Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao.

Counting was anticipated to get finished by 11 a.m. in 21 rounds on 14 tables.

Migrant voters, who don’t trouble to take part in the elections, made it point.

Tight security was set in place, and no one was permitted in the counting center without a legal pass.
