5 Simple Ways to Celebrate a Friend’s Birthday

With the past year and a half behind us, it is time to start celebrating, spending time with your loved ones and showing them just how much you care. Though we know you want to go all out (we do, too), it is best to start small and simple when celebrating a friend’s birthday. This will help to ease you back into the social world while still making them feel extra special. So, what simple ways will make them feel celebrated? We have a few tried and true ideas to put your friend in the spotlight and make their day unforgettable.

 1. Send them a sweet treat

Let’s be real. Everyone loves to receive mail, especially when that mail delivery is a yummy treat for them to enjoy. So, if you are far away or even just around the block, send them a birthday cookie cake to be able to enjoy on their special day. They will be thrilled you thought of them, and it will be nice for them not to have to make their own treats or birthday dessert. Plus, though the cake is a lovely treat, it sometimes gets played out. Cookies are a safe bet that are easily shared and enjoyed by all.

2. Create a handmade card

Though the greeting card game has improved significantly in recent years, nothing beats getting a handmade card. When you take the time to sit down and use your creativity and artistic abilities to make a card for someone, you show them how much you care and that you are willing to take the time out of your day to make them feel special. Another great thing about making your own card is that it will say exactly what you want it to, so no more searching through cards that just aren’t hitting the mark. You can make one that expresses your sentiments exactly, with the stamps and supplies you have on hand.

 3. Give them a call

Ok, we know this one sounds overly simple, but sometimes just giving someone a call or a video call on your friend’s birthday can make a huge difference for them. Hearing the voices of your loved ones when you can’t be with them or when you are celebrating a big moment can be a game-changer and has the potential to take the day from mediocre to amazing.

4. Post about them on Social Media

Even though you probably already have the pictures and caption ready to go, there is no harm in reminding you about posting on Social Media for your friend’s birthday. Be sure to pick a picture where you both look your best, or go for a solo shot of your friend. This opens the floor for them to get a few extra birthday wishes in the comments, too. You can never go wrong with extra well wishes.

5. Make them a meal

If you have the privilege of being in the same place as your friend for their big day, invite them over for a meal instead of going out. Though chefs have the education and experience to make a yummy meal at a restaurant, there is something about the love that goes into a home-cooked meal and drinks that can set it apart and make it so much more memorable. Oiling your own pan, chopping the veggies, and baking your own bread will help to create a welcoming and warm environment. And if they are making health their priority, this gives you an excuse not to go out and instead flex your healthy culinary skills and make them a nutritious, hearty, yummy birthday meal.

No matter what you choose, as long as you put your heart into it, you are bound to make your friend feel happy, special, and loved on their special day.
