Steps to become CompTIA certified

By following these 4 simple steps you can earn yourself the Prepaway CompTIA certification:

  1. Pick your certification

There is a collection of certifications offered by CompTIA that are aimed at various sectors in the field of IT. You need to pick out a particular credential based on your goals. If you plan to build your career in the networking field, then the CompTIA Network+ certification is your best choice. If it’s the cybersecurity field you’ve got your mindset on, then the CompTIA Security+ is for you. So, you can pick the certification that best suits your future endeavors. However, if you are just starting your IT career, it is strongly recommended to start from the CompTIA A+ credential, which is intended for entry-level professionals.

  1. Go through the details

Find out what the certification entails, what you will learn from it, its objectives, and what you will be tested on. This will make sure that you know what you need to prepare for and what the result will be.

  1. Train yourself and prepare for the exams

This is the most important part of the process of earning a certification. You can’t earn the certification without passing one or a few exams. So, you need to be well prepared, if you want to achieve your goal. We will be discussing preparation further in this article.

  1. Register and sit for the exam

The final step is to register for the test and ace it! Below in this article, we will be talking about the popular core certification CompTIA A+ and exams you have to pass to earn it. Below we will also focus on one of the exams in details and see what it entails.

What is CompTIA A+?

CompTIA A+ is a credential which validates your competence in technical support and IT operational roles. It prepares you to understand and solve problems related to networking, security, operating systems, etc.

The exams that a candidate planning on getting their CompTIA A+ certification had to pass were 220-901 and 220-902. But on January 15, 2019, the two new tests 220-1001 and 220-1002 were launched to replace the previous exams. This means that new candidates planning on becoming A+ certified will have to prepare not for the previously mentioned exams but the newly launched ones. Still, the candidates who have already registered for 220-901 and 220-902 exams have the possibility to pass these tests until October 1, 2019 (the English version will retire a bit earlier, on July 31, 2019).

If you are just thinking about starting your certification journey, it would be better for you to start preparing for 220-1001 and 220-1002 tests so that you have enough time. In this article, we will be focusing on 220-1001 exam.
