How To Create A Zen Home This Spring

So you want to create an unwavering zen atmosphere in your home? You’re in luck! We’ve got all the top tips on how you can transform your space this spring. Whether you need a little space for some peace and quiet or want to change it all, it seems you’re not alone. Recent research by fitted wardrobe specialists Hammonds found that one in four think their home isn’t a relaxing and calming environment to spend time in!

Colors

If you’re looking to do more than add or remove furniture, transforming your home with the right colors could be the solution for you. You’ll want to avoid dark purple, dark grey, and hot pink among the colors. These particular colors are said to get your heart racing – not something you want out of a soothing space!

Instead, opt for different shades of white or even a duck egg blue. These evoke a sense of calm, positivity, and purity, which will help your room feel much more relaxed.

Dennis Relojo-Howell, the founder of mental health and wellbeing platform, Psychreg, said:

“What colour you paint a room can have a huge impact on your mood, but this is something a lot of people don’t think about when deciding on what colour to paint the walls; they just go with what they think will look best.”

Remove clutter

Tidying your space is also a big must for creating zen in your home. Now is as good of a time as ever to declutter and get organized. Tackle one space on its own to make sure it doesn’t become too overwhelming, and sort your belongings into keep, donate and throw piles.

Once you’ve got the bits you’re keeping, invest in some good storage solutions, whether that’s additional built-in furniture or storage boxes to keep things neat in existing cupboards.

Clean

If the thought of having a deep clean fills your soul with anxiety and stress, you’re not alone. Take a step back and write a list of what needs to be done. Tackle the relatively easy jobs to do, such as cleaning windows, hoovering, and doing laundry – you’d be surprised at how you feel afterward!

Have your own space

Having your own area in the home is vital to help you recharge and relax. This is especially important nowadays, with more of us than ever working from home. Whether you use this space to practice self-care, do some yoga, read a book, or even paint, it’s important to help you to promote your own positive mental health.

Dennis concluded on the importance of having somewhere to relax in your home.

“Having your own space for you to practice self-care is an important aspect of promoting positive mental health. There’s no specific room for this – your ‘self-care space’ can be the lounge, where you do your yoga, or it can be your kitchen where you find pleasure in trying out new recipes. It can also be your bedroom, which becomes your sanctuary for rejuvenating yourself after a busy day.”
