How to Say Thank You to Your Bridesmaids

It has been an unusual time in which to get hitched. With the COVID-19 pandemic delaying wedding plans for an entire country, more than 260,000 weddings were postponed; if you were one of the unlucky brides, you could be one of half a million weddings set to take place without restrictions!

Weddings are notoriously difficult to plan for, making your bridal party an indispensable resource – whether offering help and assistance or simply a shoulder to cry on. The last thing you want to stress about is how to thank your bridesmaids, so here are some simple ways you can show your appreciation.

A Rich Tradition

The tradition of the bridal party stretches back hundreds of years, initially serving a purpose not too far removed from the bridesmaids of the present day. As well as helping the bride prepare for the ceremony, the bridesmaids were a form of support for the ceremony itself – albeit in a much more folkloric sense…

Bridesmaids would purportedly dress identically to the bride as a decoy for any evil or vengeful spirits that might attempt to ruin the big day. Incidentally, this is also where the tradition of carrying flowers came from; wildflowers would be chosen for their potency in driving away unfriendly presences and their aesthetic benefits.

Saying Thank You

While your bridal party won’t be pulling out the ghostbusting equipment for your wedding, they will be supporting you in just about every other way – and their efforts certainly deserve thanks. But in what ways could you best show your appreciation for your bridesmaids?

Jewelry

It is well-known that diamonds are a girl’s best friend – so why not give thanks in the form of a pair of diamond earrings? You could buy matching sets for your bridesmaids, so they will always have something to remember the wedding by – and your maid of honor could get an additional piece as a form of special thanks.

Trinket Box

Suppose you’re a little cash-strapped – understandable, with the significant costs that a wedding can incur – but would still like to thank your bridesmaids with a jewelry-adjacent gift. In that case, you could buy them each a matching trinket box for holding their earrings and necklaces. A great reminder when getting ready each morning!

Personalized Candle

Candle-making is an incredibly easy hobby to indulge in, making the crafting of personalized gifts a thoughtful and affordable possibility. You could make, or commission a friend to make, custom candles for your bridal party, with either scent to suit each’s personality or simply names inscribed in the glass holder.

Pamper Box

You could also put together unique hampers for each bridal party member, containing small tokens of thanks in the form of items or products specific to them. Facemasks and skincare treatments always go down a storm, but you might happen to know that one bridesmaid has a particular affection for a specific eye-shadow palette…
