Online Casino Games That Only Work in Real Life

When the first online casino games were created, their goal was to recreate the game variety of a real-life casino. The attempt was successful – pretty much every game that you can play in a brick-and-mortar casino can be adapted to a random number generator-based format. But there are some of them that, although their mechanics are perfectly adapted to online operation, simply don’t work the same.

Baccarat

Baccarat is a popular casino game played in brick-and-mortar casinos around the world. It is a simple and fast-paced card game, a basic hand matching type that was easy to recreate – it was one of the first table games to make it to online casinos. But online baccarat never really took off.

There is something about the game that developers simply cannot transpose into the online world. In real life, there’s a lot more tension and anticipation involved, with the dealer handling the cards – and it gives the game a distinguished atmosphere. The anticipation is heightened if it’s a “squeeze” type of game where the dealers take their time to reveal the next card.

Roulette

Roulette is the most recognizable casino game ever created. Over the years, it has become a game that everyone knows, even those who never set foot into a casino. It is a game surrounded by romance and mystery – legend has it, the inventor of the European roulette game, Francois Blanc, sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for the success of the game, a deal sanctioned by the total of the numbers of the roulette wheel: 666.

But roulette has nothing magic about it – and it’s a pretty boring game if you play it at an online casino. The game that has charmed so many in a real-life casino turns into a repetitive table game when played online – it simply doesn’t work.

Craps

Finally, craps – one of the most entertaining real-life casino games – is the worst possible game to play at an online casino. You see, the game of craps is great in a social setting, with the shooter throwing the dice and the crowd surrounding them, rooting and cheering, and, of course, betting on their throws.

The online casino version of craps recreates the game perfectly. There’s everything – the table, the chips, the dice. But the one thing it can’t recreate is the atmosphere surrounding the craps table. When you step inside a casino with a craps table, it’s the only one constantly surrounded by cheers and laughter.

Live dealer games

But online casinos found the solution to transform online casino games into almost perfect replicas of the real thing: live dealer games. While not all of them work perfectly in the online setting – craps, for one, still resists – all other table games, from baccarat to sic bo and roulette, are just as much fun to play online today as they are in a real-life casino.
