Twitter has introduced a brand new feature, that lets users search and post GIFs, the popular animated images, as part of their tweets.
GIF, short for graphical interchange format, is a moving image that plays over and over again. It’s frequently used on social media to express users’ emotions.

Partnering with Giphy and Riffsy, the microblogging platform said in a blog post on Wednesday when composing a message that was a tweet or direct that users could search and browse a GIF library.

“So if you’re trying to find the best cat yawn or dance move to express exactly how you feel, merely click the new GIF button,” the post said.

When the tweet compose window open, a small icon will show up at the bottom, along with the icons for adding a place, images, and surveys. As soon as they tap on it, they could browse through various popular categories or use the search bar to find a certain GIF. Twitter says it’s progressively rolling out the button to its users; also it will be available on Android iOS, and also the Web.

The new button is part of Twitter’s quest to make its service appealing to more users and curb its stagnant user increase.

Last week, Twitter shares hit an all-time low after the firm had said user growth had stalled for the very first time since it went public in 2013. The company has been experimenting with ways to make the website more engaging.
